Cole Campbell, a Borussia Dortmund youth team forward who turned 18 last month, has been approved by FIFA for a change of affiliation to the United States from Iceland.

After spending time with Atlanta United‘s academy, Campbell moved to Iceland and made his debut for FH Hafnarfjordur in the country’s top division at the age of 15.

He signed with Dortmund ahead of the 2022-23 season and has been playing for its under-19 team this season, scoring three goals and adding nine assists in 22 appearances.

Campbell previously represented Iceland at under-17 level.

The U.S. Soccer Federation confirmed the switch Thursday.
