Nabil Fekir’s agent has warned Liverpool they will have to wait for the Lyon forward and suggested “this transfer window could be long.”
Fekir, 24, has been strongly linked with a move to the Champions League runners-up this summer, though Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently warned the Premier League side and any other suitors they will “have to be very rich” to buy his club captain.
He is currently preparing for the World Cup with the France squad, and with the 24-year-old’s value likely to rise if he and Les Bleus perform well in Russia, his agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, is in no hurry to strike a deal.
“I haven’t moved from Marseille, I’m with my family, but I’m going to be clear: we’ll go to Liverpool or elsewhere with Nabil only when there is an agreement with Lyon and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives me the green light,” Bernes told Le Progres. “There is interest from Liverpool, but for the moment, there’s nothing done and other clubs could also come along. This transfer window could be long.”
Liverpool have already made one signing this summer, bringing in Monaco’s Fabinho and will also have Naby Keita join on July 1 after agreeing a deal for the RB Leipzig midfielder in the last summer window.
