TOP STORY: Serie A clubs circle forgotten Liverpool star

Liverpool midfielder Fábio Carvalho is attracting interest from Italy after impressing on loan at Hull City, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Carvalho joined Liverpool for £7.7 million from Fulham in 2022, however he has struggled to breakthrough at Anfield and was shipped out on loan this season in order to gain regular first-team action.

The Portugal youth international has been at Championship club Hull City since January and has notched eight goals in 16 outings for the Tigers. Carvalho previously spent time on loan at RB Leipzig earlier in the campaign, but saw this spell cut short due to a lack of playing time.

Romano says that Liverpool are happy with Carvalho’s progress, however, several clubs are showcasing an interest in the Portuguese player. It is reported that Italian clubs are monitoring the situation, whilst others in Europe are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.

His future at Liverpool is currently unclear, with manager Jurgen Klopp leaving the Premier League giants at the end of the season. Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has been strongly linked to the managerial vacancy, but whoever replaces Klopp will likely have a decision to make this summer regarding Carvalho’s future.

Newcastle United have identified Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White as a potential replacement for Bruno Guimarães, says The Mirror. It is reported that Newcastle could part ways with several players this summer, with the Magpies needing to balance the books in order to ensure compliance with Premier League Financial Fair Play regulations. This leaves the door ajar for Guimaraes to depart St James’ Park. The report indicates that both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City hold an interest in the Brazilian, who could see his release clause of roughly £100m triggered.

Tottenham Hotspur will be able to strike a deal for Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for between £30m-£40m this summer, reports Football Insider. It is understood that Leicester could part ways with several stars this summer if they do not secure promotion back to the Premier League.

AC Milan are still working on a deal for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, though they will face competition from Arsenal, reveals Calciomercato. Zirkzee has emerged as a priority target for Milan, having notched 10 goals and three assists in Serie A this season, however the Gunners’ interest could price the Rossoneri out of a deal.

– Paris Saint-Germain are showing interest in Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, according to Nicolo Schira. The 16-year-old is under contract with the Catalan giants until 2026, with Barcelona reportedly keen to extend this further. Yamal has made 30 appearances in LaLiga this season, notching four goals and six assists, which has attracted the attention of several clubs in Europe.

– Newcastle are expected to open talks with defender Kieran Trippier over a new deal, according to Football Insider. The 33-year-old is under contract until next year, which leaves Newcastle vulnerable. If the Magpies do not agree a new deal with the England international, they could be forced to facilitate his departure this summer for a cut-price, to ensure he does not leave as a free agent at the end of next season.
