Roberto Firmino out Xherdan Shaqiri in for Liverpool’s preseason United States tour

Steve Nicol explains why Xherdan Shaqiri’s attitude worries him after the Swiss star completed a move to Liverpool from relegated Stoke City.
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol doesn’t mince his words when responding to Dejan Lovren’s comments about being one of the world’s top defenders.

Roberto Firmino will miss out on Liverpool’s preseason tour of the United States because of an extended break following the World Cup, but new signing Xherdan Shaqiri will be included.

Firmino, who reached the quarterfinals with Brazil, will link up with his teammates for a four-day training camp in France that will take place after the final International Champions Cup game against Manchester United on July 28.

Shaqiri, though, will have had enough of a break after Switzerland were knocked out in the round of 16 to be able to join his new side for the three friendlies.

Liverpool will also face Borussia Dortmund, manager Jurgen Klopp’s former team, and Manchester City.

England’s Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as Belgium’s Simon Mignolet and Croatia’s Dejan Lovren, will report a week before Liverpool open the Premier League season against West Ham United at Anfield on Aug. 11.
